It was a clear cold night, the air was so cold that it elicited thoughts of Jack Frost nipping at your nose and ears, stars hung in the sky like twinkle lights. As people trudged through the bright white snow, kids in their PJ’s, one could not help but feel the excitement of what was to come. Once at the train depot, the Polar Express arrived unloading its pleased passengers, their faces aglow. Andrew and Evan enjoyed playing with the snow and soon learned how cold it really is. The train was prepped for its next journey and then came the call “All Aboard”. Once on the train and seats found, the train headed towards its destination, the North Pole. Hot chocolate was served along with chocolate chip cookies. We then were read the Polar Express story; Andrew and Evan listened intently while enjoying the pictures in the book. After the story we sang Christmas Carols with holiday cheer. Soon an announcement was made that the North Pole was coming up and the lights of Santa’s Village were going to be visible. The children, with their rosy cheeks, pressed their faces against the fogged windows, wiping the fog away and straining for a glimpse of Santa’s Village. The train began to slow down, the clackety clack gave way to screeching and finally the train stopped next to Santa’s sleigh. Santa could be seen on his sleigh with his head Elf Bernard waving to the curious passengers of the Polar Express. Santa boarded the train and made his rounds from train car to train car handing out silver sleigh bells to every child on the train and some fortunate adults as well. Evan’s eyes were wide with excitement, as he has become Santa’s favorite fan. He was so excited to receive his bell, as was Andrew. Santa reached the door of the train car and gave a hearty Ho Ho Ho. Soon the train started again and headed back to the train depot. We ended our magical journey singing more Christmas Carols until we reached the train depot and disembarked, our minds now filled with everlasting memories of the North Pole.

How absolutely wonderful is the narrative. Bravo again, Scott. The pictures are wonderful too, and the boys look properly frozen in the the beginning photos, as we were just beginning to thaw out.
Keep up this terrific blog.
